What a super photograph Phil.
What is said to be the only equestrian statue in an English church can be seen in St Luke’s church at Gaddesby. The 1848 statue, by Joseph Gott, of Colonel Edward Hawkins Cheney and his horse, is a life size sculptured monument depicting Col. Cheney of the Royal Scots Greys, who fought in the battle of Waterloo on June 18th 1815. He had four horses killed under him and rode off on a fifth horse when command of the regiment devolved upon him. At the base a panel shows Col. Cheney in hand to hand combat with a French officer who was trying to recapture a lost Napoleonic eagle. The story goes that Gott, on completing the statue, realized that he had left out the tongue of the ‘in extremis’ horse and in despair he committed suicide.

Hello Phil, this is a very nice shot, I love that soft light and colour. We paid a brief visit there last year but unfortunately the weather did not match that in your photo. Like.

No, I live in Loughborough. In fact, the day I took this photo was the only time I have ever been to Long Whatton!

Hi Phil, super shot ( they were growing something not quite as photogenic here this year, although the badgers liked it !) Apparently this is a good place to see little owls ( I've seen them near the sports ground and would love to get some pics ). I've been trying for about six months to photograph foxes here but I think they've pretty much been slaughtered. I once watched a family of foxes with three cubs in a den just off to the right under a woodpile, one of my most amazing wildlife experiences. Sorry to go on and on when I comment on your pictures but I don't know anyone else who visits here and cares about the wildlife. I always look forward to seeing your new shots and I hope you continue to take pictures around here, do you know about the hares ? ( I'm guessing you're not a hare hater by looking through your photostream ! ) It's nice to see other people who enjoy the area on Panoramio, Cheers, Dan.

I have with my children -they loved it but I stuck as close to the wall and as far from the edge as possible [I don't] like heights] the veiw is spectacular though!] On another note I remember my dad telling me about trying to get a ladder up the stairs inside to run a phone line in!!
