AustinMN's conversations

nazi1944 is, in fact, a thief who steals other people's photos. Many, many photos in his gallery are stolen, and he seems to not care. Eventually the ongoing investigation will lead to the deletion of his account, and may even lead to criminal prosecution.

After lightening the shadows and a few other adjustments, the horizontal bands are more obvious, and it is possible to see some blobs in the grass.

Even reduced to the 640x480 "native" resolution of the mobile phone camera, the FinePix camera has many times the resolution and is able to reproduce colors and details across a much broader range of brightnesses.

In its original form, the foreground was way too dark to be discernable (except some horizontal bands that appear to be compression artifacts).

This barn is one of just a few buildings remaining of Forestville, a once-thriving community of about 50 people. Most of what the town was is now gone, but a few buildings remain and are preserved as a living history museum.

You can learn more about the state park from the Minnesota DNR, and more about Historic Forestville from the Minnesota Historical Society.

You are right, yours are birch. I spotted some peeling bark on the trunk of one in the upper right of your photo. Certainly when one is close there is no confusing the two.

Hi Austin. I believe that the "windows" in the triangle over the door has always been a kind of decoration as they are too close to the roof. But there have been many alterations made to this church over the centuries. And yes, some results were due to expenses.

Finn, I don't think Lake Wobegon is a real place, I think the name was made up by Garrison Keillor. The name "Wobegon" is a play on words, sounding like "Woe be gone" meaning "no more sadness" or "no more trouble."

Sometimes, that's the way I feel when I go out on photo walks. All the troubles of the day or the week are gone, lifted by being out in the fresh air and sunshine.

Greetings from U.S.A. - Austin
