Für die deutschen Leser/for german readers: Ich benutze Englisch für meine Beschreibungen aus einem einfachen Grund: Enlisch wird von mehr Menschen weltweit verstanden. I am German but i use english here because it is more widely used than the german language. Born in Rheinfelden/Baden(Loerrach county) but raise up in the town of Lörrach(Loerrach) located at southwestern tip of Germany. I'm interested in skylines and skyscrapers since i was a younster. Also doing a lot of drawing and painting such pics. My favourite destination is Hong Kong which i visited 13 times so far; followed by Bangkok (5 visits so far). Doing photgraphy as a hobby since 2000 and always in search for unusual or high locations (every bldg with access to rooftop or high floor and 'not-100times-shown-angle'-pics; and i also like to include the nature if possible) Besides that i also like to do inline-skating (semi-pro) and woodworks/handicrafts.

Besten Dank!!!!

Actually you cant see Chai Wan, it's just your helicopter's location close to there:-)

In foreground is Heng Fa Chuen. Then follows Shau kei Wan, Sai Wan Ho, Tai Koo, Quarry Bay, North Point. and behind that is Kowloon's TST and Hung Hom area

this actually shows Lam Tin and a small part of Yau Tong (at right)

Again this is not Chai Wan.

This is the Sai Wan Ho(front)/Shau Kei Wan(back)area, looking SE-wards. The tallest towers belong to an estate called "Grand Promenade".

But the 2 building clusters in the background, behind the hills, that is finally Chai Wan :-)

Greets from Germany

Not Kwung Tong. This is the eastern part of North Point. At lower right, the bldg with partly glass and partly yellow facade is the Ibis North Point. The one with a pyramid top is the Prosperity Millennia Plaza. In the very top right corner u can see Devon House, in Quarry Bay.

From the shadows i can see that you took this quite early in the morning. Did u use Heliservices?

Erm, sorry! That's not Chai Wan.

This is the norh-western part of HK Island called Sai Wan(left) and Kennedy Town (right). The 6 massive towers is "The Belcher's". The bldg under construction is called "Harbour One". the flat buildings at waterfront belong to the Western Wholesale Food Market. In the back is Mount Davis.

Thank you Wilke

How right you are, so much of Hong Kong has changed since 1959. I worked there from 1957 to 1961, even during that period many changes were taking place, some perhaps were good, but the Old Hong Kong was diminishing fast, and compared with today not a lot of this exists. There are a number of photographs that bring back so many memories and it is good to see people like yourself appreciate just what has changed over the last fifty years, it will be interesting to see the difference in 2059. A 100 years on from the time these photograps were taken.

Kind regards & Best wishes. Gordon
