And, yes, I know this place as well. The point coming in from left is called Hallangstangen, and the bay is Hallangspollen. A poll in Norwegian is the word for a long, narrow bay which is too small for being a fjord! Perhe

I took a look at some more of your pictures... This one I know! It is not a church, it is a lighthouse. The proper name is Dyna fyr. Way back in the 70's it was base for Oslo Scuba-diving school. I learned to dive here in the winter of -75. Cold, indeed! Perhe.

Here is a piece of history from these islands: On April 9. 1940 a German navy unit led by the cruiser Blücher went up the fjord to take Oslo by a single coup. Blücher was (unbelievably)sunk with two 28 cm shells and one torpedo from Oscarsborg fortress. The German captain tried to set the ship ashore on the southernmost island, but the ship slid off and settled on a comfortable 90 m deep. About a thousand soldiers died there, some survivors climbed ashore - some on the mainland and some on the islands. Those ashore managed to find housing, but those on the islands nearly froze to death, and were saved the same afternoon in a miserable condition. Best wishes from Perhe (Mysen, Norway)
