No, it didn't blow off. It just eroded over time. Also, this photo is from a road six miles away but you positioned it inside the volcanic crater.

No it isn't a self-portrait (My Son is taking a picture of Mt. Hood but he doesn'nt really understand how important it can be to frame a distant object with closer objects.
