I would rather walk to Montrose than Ferryden from here. Have a look at the map.
Montrose used to have a great beachfront with Esplanade up unitl the storm in 1953 which wrecked the concrete slabs and the steps. One cans see where all the sand has gone by looking to the right of the photo. In 1944 the sand was level with the Esplanade and the rescue boat shelter was completely covered.
