Tom Hammond's conversations

wowowowow 1977! I was there last year and it is pretty much the same! but I wonder how did you find that 35 years ago...

Based upon the location and canyon view, I believe this photo to actually be on the New Fork River. It is a scene that I am very familiar with having spent 30 summers working at the Boy Scout camp on the lower New Fork Lake.

Flagstone looks so tame from the divide; this view from Tourist Creek is impressive, especially with the clouds! I was in the Titcomb Basin that summer of 1980, but ventured no further north until last year. Thanks for posting!

After 33 years it is difficult trying to figure out where I took these photos. This one was odd. The very distinct rock face is obvious as one approaches the pass from the North. The rock shows on Google Earth but I couldn't match the road to the position of the rock except by moving down towards the river. I hope I assumed correctly that the road was moved uphill and now enters a tunnel.

Great work, Tom. I've walked under it, and under its spell, a couple of times. But - being 70 and all - never got to the top. Pleased to see this wonderful, rare, view. Many thanks.

tom, thanks for posting these fabulous shots. i have often dreamed about what must lie WAY beyond the lakes and now i know, thanks to your efforts.
