Thanks for that information Alan, it is really appreciated, as I had often wondered who kept it looking so clean etc. This is from about two years ago, so I guess your " tradition " is being kept going by someone!Barb and I were cub leaders at Moore in the 80's so we might even have met as we were often in Daresbury, either at the church, school, or over at the "firs" - if you were still localish! Scary! Thanks again ,All the best Mac

The bungalow was the home of Leonard Johnson & his wife Emily (my grandparents), Leonard was the Sluicemaster responsible for operating the sluice gates machinery at Randles sluices. Aprox. 100 mtrs to the right of the bungalow was the entrance to a service tunnel travelling from that entrance to the north bank of the River Mersey there was also another entrance about 50 mtrs from the bungalow going south and under the Manchester Ship canal to the opposite (south) side of the canal.

The area to the left(west)of this pylon is known as 'Randles Sluices' and the bungalow on the edge of the Manchester Ship Canal was where my Grandfather & Grandmother lived. For about 30 years he was employed as the Sluice Master responsible for the canal water level between Latchford & Eastham, the track/path running along the canal was the site of the MSC railway that ran in and out of the old ICI 'Wiggs' & 'Randles' work's.
