I remember the Australian Cricket team used to stay here; certainly for their ill-fated, Packer influenced tour of 1977. I know because I was at London University then and based at classrooms all around Russell square so we saw them coming and going to and from their coach parked outside the hotel and causing traffic delays and frustrations. Russell square sounded like a Roman gridlock for a while!
