The Warrior's Tomb has sat to the North-West of St. Mary's Church in Bushbury for hundreds (if not 1000+) years. Local folklore says that many warriors were buried here after a battle. Could this be a burial site from the Battle of Wednesfield (Woden's Field) / Tettenhall (Teotta's Halh)? The Anglo-Saxons defeated the Vikings in what is modern day Wolverhampton..!

Princes Square was the first place in England to have automatic traffic lights, back in 1927. The poles on the modern day traffic lights are striped in the traditional way to commemorate this. On the left of this picture is the Royal London Building, whilst visible in the background are the Varsity (formerly the George Hotel), & Hogshead bar, Stafford Street beyond.

One of several 'folds' in Wolverhampton, this picture was taken from the Mander Centre roof car park. Povey's Sandwich Shop is located here, as is Huckleberry's Menswear, Dark Kitten Shoes, Nefaria, a cobblers and the Copper Kettle Cafe. There was also, recently (2009) a second hand book store here. This small ancient street is well worth a visit!

I am now 50 years old, I first went to Fairbourne when I was about 5! My Parents bought a house there in 1969 and retired there in 1987, they still live there now. I have many happy memories of holidays in Fairbourne and also the little train. As a child I used to have a season ticket and ride up and down to the point all day. As a student I worked in the shops when they were owned by Eric Evans and his wife. I rarely get there these days, but have many happy memories. Thanks for posting the picture. Alison
