Out of all the photos marked in this area, this is the best one of the actual 40-Foot Hole, which is a round hole in the granite stream bed directly down where these people are looking. Thanks for the photo. The Wichitas are one of my favorite places on Earth, and I've hiked several hundred miles in them, mostly since the late 70's. I no longer wander there when the temp is above 90 deg. Can't wait for fall so I can get back there to this beautiful area so significant in so many ways. Darrell Mc
When the Kokanee Salmon used to run in the fall from Lake McDonald Up river to spawn, the bald eagles would congregate here on their way south. The fish and game and the park service would count them yearly. My dad and I went up one fall to view and on that day in about 1982, the count was the highest ever at aproximately 524 mostly mature birds. What a sight to see. Eagles were everywhere, on every tree with some trees having several. I was not into good photography at the time and sure missed a lot of majestic shots.
I know that place!I ts on ben 10 protecter of earth game but....theres only one thing i dont know about that why are the places on the game are real.... well not all of them

It was created by a meteorite, possibly 50,000 years ago. You can find more information about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meteor_Crater#
