Ian,
I made a short video to show the difference. I am looking for more recent photos & have found ones from 2014 that show the cave has collapsed into a new lake. Also found one from 1977 still showing the toe still over Wedgemont Lake.https://vimeo.com/170557060
Fantastic shot! That whole cluster of lakes is one of the most amazing memories I have from when I was a kid growing up in Gibsons. We would hike up there in the summer and cross-country ski in the winter. I wish I had appreciated it more when I was a kid.
it was still fall when this photo was taken. i am in pretty descent shape. i took a dslr and an hd video camera. not packing that light. this is a great hike in the summer. i would recommend it.
Thanks, Ian. That's a fare ways from the rest area ;) . We hiked it in August from the end of the Coldwater valley FSR (north of here). We went straight up Alpaca then decended to here on day two. Our biggest problem was water, with all the snow gone by then.
