May I suggest this is actually The Gunsmouth, as described on the Wey and Arun canal trusts map? This is the entrance to the Wey and Arun canal at Shalford, curently used for moorings.
This photo reminds me of my childhood. I was born in Farnham and as a child, I would often spend hours exploring Hankley Common looking for spent bullet cases (and live ones!)etc. I knew that this wall was something to do with the WW2, you have filled in the details! Thanks.
