Bistam (Persian: بسطام , Basṭām or Bisṭām) is an ancient town founded in the 6th century AD located in Khorasan, 6 km north of the Iranian city of Shahrud. The town is known for its Islamic monuments from the Ilkhanid period and its association with the mystic Bayazid Bistami. The Elburz mountains are to the north of the town.

A tradition says that the town was founded by a certain Bistam, uncle of the Sassanid king Khosrau II.
