I saw this tank back in 1958 when I spent a year at Afikim just down the road. Since it was stopped be members of Deganya Aleph during the War of Independence in 1948 why would France have outsourced to Russia at that time. Russia was not backing Syria then. Remember, Russia voted in favor of partition.
