Dean Lee Uhlinger

Dean Lee Uhlinger Dean Lee Uhlinger 1954- A fifth Generation Californian (Swiss Ancestry) Dean was born and raised in Carlsbad, southern California and began using his fathers 35mm camera at Thirteen. "Growing up near the Pacific, that was the natural place for me to start. I was never interested in shooting people, and as soon as I could drive I began going to the local desert (Borrego) and beyond. Other than a high school class, I never studied photography, art or design. Shooting bad images, is the best schooling and a naturally good eye improves over time. I equate photography with treasure hunting; always looking for the next nugget!" Dean was published (Desert Light,Chronicle Books 1994) He is a contributing photographer at Corbis, and is currently finishing field work on 'Precious Waters', a photo essay book on rivers of the southwest.
