I should have named this picture. It is taken from the hill above the village of Winterbourne, which you can see in the distance. The one-track lane from the B4494 winds through the woods - you expect to see fairies at every turn!
Thank you, Saabman93! It was a lucky shot, taken at 11.30a.m. on 2 Feb 2009 - I was upstairs looking out of a window facing the gateway when I spotted the unmelted frost making that pattern on the tarred driveway, so I ran for my camera.
Right next to the gate there's a barn with an outside stairway, so I took it from up there - the best view.
