This is Seargent Bobby Hilliard, shortly after WWII, in a confiscated germany amphibious vehicle. The story is, that he was chosen to showcase the vehicle for about 200 military spectators. they had never given it a test run, and did not account for the current in the Rhine. The spectators were on the other side of the Rhine waiting for the crossing of the vehicle but the current swiftly took the vehicle down stream. My Grandfathe thought he was going to drown but the vehicle made it to the other side about one and half miles down stream in a marsh.
This Building has amazing architecture. It was not always the Libray, but the People inside had little knowledge of the gryphons and gargoyles that adorn the exterior. Some thought they were grotesque and others inside had never even noticed them! For a small agricultural town,the architecture of this building harkens to an era long gone.the inside of cousre...gutted for a library though some of the original moldlings remain.
