When did you take this picture? I've just been there, the building is finished and it's a fancy bar, restaurant and night club in pink and red.

IN IT,S HEYDAY AS A THEATRE, THE GARRICK, TRIALED PLAYS BEFORE THEY WENT TO THE WESTEND IN LONDON. MANY OF THE ORIGINAL FEATURES STILL REMAIN WHEN IT WAS A THEATRE. THE PRESEMIUM ARCH, THE VEIWING BOXES X 8, AND THE DISUSED DRESSING ROOMS. SADLY IT IS NOW A BINGO HALL, BUT AT LEAST IT HAS,NT BEEN DEMOLISHED TO MAKE WAY FOR MORE FLATS, IT NOW STANDS IN A CONSERVATION AREA SO IT SHOULD BE OK.

There's no evidence to suggest this is actually Roman.

Known locally as the Long Causeway. In 1734 the road was described as 'impassable' and was a key defensive position during the "War Of The Roses".

For more info, read "A Lancashire Lion" by James L. Maxim
