Hello Adrian! Nicaea in Turkey is not only known for it's memories of the Roman Empire to which the ruins of this Roman theatre site testify. Nicaea played also a most important role in the history of the Christian Church. Here, the First ecumenical council of the Christian bishops was in the year 325 convened by Emperor Constantin I. At this important meeting a number of problems within the church had been solved and the "Nicaean Creed" was established, "Canon Law" was promulgated and a uniform date for the observation of the "Easter" celebration had been fixed amongst the solving of other issues. Hosius of Corduba presided over the council. A.T.
Few people knows that near danube , Serbien Side , 60 Km from Orsova , Romania or 20 Km From Doni Milanovac is a beatiful Museum of the Ancient Village Lepenski Vir ,. This is very good descovered and restaurated of A Belgrade Univeristy Team in 1970. And the Covered Hall is Impresionant ! Congratulations ! For all , nearest place , Visiting it !
