Actually when I first walked up I was struck by how much they looked like large icebergs as they seem to be under most of the time at first before swimming way. The geese were a bit funny as so busy cleanind and doing the my foot is cold tag that Jean mentioned:)

t really is amazing how big they are. You are right the Canadian Geese always seem so big so it gives an appreciation for the swans when you can see them together. My husband said yesterday there were around 40 swans and a couple hundred geese near the shoreline in open water when he went by but he forgot to tell me. We swung by today and most of the lake is ice & most of the swans were gone but a huge flock of geese way out in what open water was left. Glad you enjoyed these.

Well since it is not mine....it does not affect me so much but for the farmer much of his profit is being eaten up by the cost of drying the corn. And yes he has to sell the corn in order to get the money back for all the huge expenses in fertilizer, fuel, etc that he has invested for the crop.

Thanks Laurel! It was a bit of a process. I have been looking at the corn driers & the clouds of steam surrounding them for a bit. So that shot was planned. I just happened to spot this as I was driving on down the road and on one of the shots the farmer came out and stood perfectly positioned for a bit. Then after I had it all ready for posting the idea of doing the series and dedication on this one popped in my mind and I could not wait to get it up. I do not think most people today realize just how demanding and what long hours are required of farmers. I am glad you were touched by it. Here is hoping your husband will soon be through the work that is keeping him on such long hours.

Thanks Theolfa! I grew up on a dairy farm and you are right it never stops. Everything we ever did was planned on being home in time to milk the cows on schedule. I mainly put the geese & swans in to illustrate the cold following the halo around the moon and so everything was not dark shots but you are right in that it emphasizes the freezing conditions they are working in.

Thanks Sayo! I am glad you liked my photo of the hard working farmer!

Peter, thank you for visiting this picture. I have to stay up late tonight since our hamster (a new one, but the same colour and face as our old pet) is having her run in the living room. Regards, susan
