fotero78 Chris Vanderlip. BA Photography, 2006; BA Spanish, 2008; BS Geology (in progress). Grand Valley State University, Allendale/Grand Rapids MI. Email chrisvanderlip[[at]]yahoo[[dot]]com. Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/chris.vanderlip https://www.facebook.com/ChrisVanderlipPhotography I consider myself essentially a photographic artist, landscapes and architecture being my primary modes. However, please note that my panoramio.com account images often reflect my other, non-fine-art, photographic interests such as geomorphological studies, and as such, may not represent the general public's expectation of fine-art. I began using an SLR in 1996 and developed my craft at Kalamazoo Valley Community College and Grand Valley State University, culminating in a bachelor's degree in photography in 2006. I started creating HDR (high-dynamic-range) images early in 2010 and currently use Photomatix software for image generation and post-process in Photoshop. I generally operate under a "realistic HDR" modus operandi, which is to say that I tone map for global contrast and use a curve-and-mask approach to create and control local contrast, avoiding halos and other phenomena which are distracting in many HDR images. While certain effects may be appropriate at times, I feel that mine is a more mature approach to creating HDR images, making photographs that are about their subject or atmosphere, rather than representing an image making process or effect.
