Hi David,
I did a trip to Peter Pande last year taking the steep, snow covered boulder pass you wrote about. We did it in over July 4 weekend and there was still quite a bit of snow even for a dry year. You're spot on about it being treacherous. Our friend's chocolate lab came with us and I thought we were going to have to bury her somewhere near that pass.
