Mitsuaki's conversations

They were just torn down. So sad. A good childhood reminder now forgotten in history. This land was owned by Mr Woodrow Lassitter since early 1900's.

Thanks for sharing your photo of this classic municipal water tank, dating from around 1960. It is supported by six tubular steel legs, with a height of 135 feet. For many years, the small ball on top was used by surveyors, when sighting over long distances.

Elevated water tank serving the un-named community which has sprung up at the intersection of Interstate 40 and NC Highway 42, near Clayton. Tank Owner: Johnston County Public Utilities.

Johnston County supplies water to most county residents and businesses including Four Oaks, Princeton, Kenly, Pine Level, Micro, Wilson's Mill, Clayton, and all Johnston County Water Districts, except those on well water and those supplied by the Selma or Smithfield water systems.

I enjoy seeing unique water tanks--especially a Golf Ball sitting atop a tee.
