Was born and raised here. Photo must be from the tram. Used to be able to fish down there. The pipes in the upper center pump water to fill 20 mi long, man made Banks Lake. Wish I could ride my bicycle over it again. Nice pic!
Thanks to phenry for suggesting the correct GPS location. I adjusted that a little based on the fact that the switchback can be seen from the right window.
the night view was spectacular. The water is still as could be until 11 or so when the winds started picking back up and then you could hear waves washing across the shore like you were sleeping next to an ocean. The colors seemed to change every ten minutes. I had never seen such a clear night before. To top it all, I got to see the milkyway.
The problem with canoeing the whole chain in a day is the wind that picks up by afternoon. Coming to the beach on Junker was extremely challenging. It is frustrating to row your arms off for a couple of minutes, pause for a breather and see that you are at looking at the EXACT same tree by you on the shore as you were two minutes ago. And by the time you contemplate that, your canoe is threatening to get washed away or capsize. Luckily we all made it.

this part kicked butt while coming back. you think its all down hill and this sneaks up on you.
that hill is about the same height as the one we hiked
