Falkland Islands will continue as an Overseas Territory of Britain, enjoying self-determination until and unless the Islanders wish to change that.
British protection is important since the terrible invasion by forces of the Argentine Military Junta on 2 April 1982. However, with the Argentine surrender on 14 June, 1982, British forces liberated the Falkland Islands.
One can see a lot in this photo:
Chesil Beach, Fortuneswell Portland & Harbour,
The Fleet, Lyme Bay-the left Weymouth Bay right.
I was the Radio Operator there in 1990 when it was called Faraday Base. Fantastic views along the peninsula in both directions. Breathtaking and beautiful scenery.
Fantastic scenery,wonderful composition.
Sincere greetings from Taiwan.
que pena que dejen la base en cuba por orden del presidente Obama
Oh by the way, this is Base W, Wordie base, not Base F, which was Faraday Base (Vernadsky) where I over-wintered in the 90's.
They're not too bad about you taking photographs around that part of the base Noel, but you're not allowed anywhere near the 'other' part, and there are notices saying that lethal force will be taken to anyone trespassing! IE shoot first, ask questions later!
