Fantastic Blue !

David, we came through that way in about May 1985 & it sure is a relief to see that Grindles Hut still stands... Then tank in photos of the area seems to be a little worse for wear, but it is darned old, after all. Took photos from the top of the hill behind Grindle's & still have some of those somewhere. Now a timber building will not stand the bushfires, but the stone ones, will, to a certain extant...

In '85 the house was in pretty badly condition, so there must have been a fair amount of work done on to be livable. Love to visit that area again, but don't think it will happen.

The Hysen Trail is sort of tempting, but I could not walk 200km in the summer heat, and I know full well that the 'cooler' part of the year is pretty hard too, on walkers... We lived in Stirling North, at the head of the Spencer Gulf for 15 years, so the Flinders are pretty familar to me.

Must day I like your shot David. Did you get some from the top of the hill there? I'll have to look through the slides I've got here & see what is still there. Some were Kodachrome & some medium format, 6X4.5 work slides. Lovely stuff.

Cheers, Peter, Christchurch :-)
