This lock is called Forest Lock. The single Lock Gate was installed for illustration purposes by Forest Farm/conservation volunteers - it provides part of the water course, but could never actually work! - but its good for what it is.
Melingriffith undershot water pump. Built to relieve an ongoing legal battle between the Melingriffith tin works and the other shareholders (particularly Richard Crayshaw) of the Glamorganshire canal company. The canal kept on taking so much water out of the Taff that the tin works couldn't operate; the pump circumvented this problem.
