Voted! Greetings from Hungary, Pali

The sacred spring at Lourdes, which produced about 25,000 gal. [.26 gal = 1 liter] of water daily following its uncovering by Bernadette, at the Virgin Mary's direction. Today, in its 151st year, the grotto draws about 5 million visitors annually.

site of the miraculous vision of the Virgin Mary by Father Desgenettes in the early 1830s.

a somewhat austere, smaller church, with many fine details inside, including paintings, and the relics of St. Magliore. A key church on the route to Santiago.

across from Emile Goudeau Place, at Rue de Abbesses metro, where the shuttle up the hill to Montmartre stops, conveniently. Lots of mosaic tile, and beautiful stained glass, in the church, and well worth a visit.

One of the most important churches in Paris. Built at Louis XIII's order in 1629 to thank God for the King's victory over the Protestants at La Rochelle. Also, the site of the miraculous vision of the Virgin by Father Desgenettes in the early 1830s, shortly after the Miraculous Medal visions at the Sisters of Charity chapel across town.

A wonderful, faith-affirming chapel, where 5000 visitors a day on average "come to the foot of the altar, where many graces will be poured out," as the Virgin Mary promised the novice Catherine Laboure in 1830. To the left of the altar is the glass coffin of St. Louise de Marillac, co-founder of the Sisters of Charity order under St. Vincent DePaul, the Apostle to the Poor of Paris, whose heart resides in a religuary to the right of the altar (his tomb is about a mile away.) Between the two is the glass coffin of St. Catherine Laboure. Opposite the Bonne Marche department store.

Always impressive. Early morning mass and the nuns' procession, and singing, are worth the effort - even if the adjacent funicular is not running.

a minor basilica, with one of the tallest steeples in Paris, tho the chruch entrance is much-recessed and its exterior is only visible from down the block. Very fine inside. Opposite Pere Lachaise necropolis, where Jim Morrison's grave (dank), and Chopin's grave (lustrous), and a few dozen other luminaries' graves are heavily visited.

a beautiful church inside and outside. In front is a large sculpture of St. Joan astride her steed, with pennant flying. A sizeable exhibit tells of the conversion here of Charles de Foucauld, and his subsequent religious career.
