Sadly, there's a big red heavy duty steel gate on the outside of the "tunnel" under the roadway now. Someone had driven through that end and, somehow, ended up trying to cross the current rail line and got high centered. Had to call for a tow and stopped trains! :(
Hello Airjohn and Drafter--I'm with the Treasure Island Museum (on Treasure Island in San Francisco). Can either of you tell me where the truck is now? We're thinking of doing an exhibit about the puppet rodeo and would love to have some contemporary photos of the truck.
Thanks very much--if you could email me at ggie@treasureislandmuseum.org I'd be very thankful!
I found the vechile in Newcaslte on the corner with the truck attached. I am going to post a photo of it later. Does anyone know the story of the Puppet Rodeo? it is in amazing shape. So Cool
You have this picture located at the Steamboat Slough Ferry (also known as the J-Mac Ferry or Grand Island Ferry). The Ryer Island Ferry (Also known as the Rio Vista Ferry) is on the other side of Ryer Island.
The vessel itself looks like the Steamboat Slough Ferry, so I think you just have it mislabeled.
The Steamboat Slough Ferry does connect with Ryer Island, but it is not known locally as the Ryer Island Ferry.
More PLZ! (I'm one to talk)I'm so glad to see folks exploring and posting the hidden worlds where Huell Howser dare not tred. And not one pict of a sunset or the Golden Gate Bridge in your mix. You are the soul of Google Earth. Thank You.
Thanks for your kind comments and for the correct location! I took a trip on Hwy 1 from LA to Seattle a few years ago, taking pictures all the way. By the time I got home, I didn't know where many of the pictures were taken. I will move the location right away. Hopefully it will move on GE soon.

Simple, but oddly intriguing...
