First time I climbed McLoughlin I was 12 yrs old and in the Boy Scouts. We were at summer camp at Lake of the Woods. Later in life I've summited this mountain 3 more times. My wife even climbed Mt. McLoughlin while she was pregnant.
That's a long bike ride! It's a long four wheeler ride! But totally do-able. At least it was a decade ago when I worked there. Barely though. Some blowdown and a lot of swampy patches. But you were there a decade before me, so I'm sure it was even better then. Lots of bears, but very scenic! Hard to image loaded log trucks coming down the mountain on this road...

I used to work for the Roseburg District BLM. On this day I was conducting surveys at the end of this road on public land.
