Not sure why I've been skirting round this. Possibly because I have been growing tomatoes all my life and the sight is so familiar that I missed this shot!

However, it is a real beauty! ysl

A quick point here: I have lived in Spain for 4 years and have yet to taste any flavour at all in a tomato! It was explained to me that all the tasty tomatoes are exported to England and Germany (a legacy from the 50s and 60s when hard cash from salad veg sold to northern Europeans was much needed).

OK, but Spanish tomatoes sold in England were utterly flavourless as well! Only homegrown English tomatoes had any flavour, if you were lucky and had a garden. We had to make do with tinned Italian tomatoes to get any taste other than homegrown!

The only place where tomatoes are ALWAYS flavoursome in my experience is the South of France. Why? I have no idea.

Best wishes, Andy
