The place gets into your soul, and there's no way to get away from it. My great grandfather was here for a while, my father lived here during the Depression, and I grew up here. My mom taught at SUHS, and Tuolumne. I'm back after fifty some years, what can I say . . . . ?

During excavation of this area numerous skeletons were discovered of individuals who were killed in the earthquake that destroyed the city. Included were those of a family consisting of a Father, Mother and Baby all huddled together. The July 1988 edition of National Geographic details the discoveries of this site in the article - "The day the world ended at Kourion"

Great picture. My wife teaches at the school (you can make it out by looking for the track in the center left of the full sized photo), but this is a view of town that we never get to see.
