I was with NMCB-1 in late 1971, the runway was about 1/8 of a mile. We landed by C-130 cargo planes. And right here where 'Sunset' photograph was taken, was where Alpha company had our "Hoches" Screened in huts to sleep in. They had metal roofs that got so hot by 10AM you couldn't sleep anymore. Now almost 40 years later, I simply can't believe what the place has been turned into. Through out my tour on Diego, We had our 'Friends' three Russian Trawlers sitting just over the horizon. The pilots who flew in suppplies and Mail from Bankok, Thailand or Cam Rahn Bay, South Vietnam would dip down low and buzz them once a month

Creepy.
Nice Capture danzberg ...
Damn - it's fished out now. Cool light on the cannon -- almost looks bronze.
Cruisin' the strip. To DG 1!
