Yes, we can thank earlier citizens of the city of Boulder, who taxed themselves and bought up 45,000 acres of open space over the years since early in the 1900s, preserving this huge city park. Restricting development, allowing access and conserving resources, the Boulder Mountain Park is my sanctuary, minutes from my back door. Darn good climbing, also! "The Third" is a favorite goal each year when the wildlife (raptors) closure is lifted. That First Flatiron Trail you took is so dramatic, as it climbs the slot between the rock formations! Cheers!

Leviathan Lake ... very nice. Haven't been there since 1975. Think I'll hike in sometime this summer. I expect the mosquitoes weren't that bad by August 17th.

Ah yes, the red roofs of CU! I would suggest a title of "Boulder from the Royal Arch Trail" since the photo is from the "Boulder Mountain Park", not "Chautauqua Park". Thanks for posting!
