I lived here for six months in 1969. I was in the Army and we lived "off base" because we needed to be close by the NATO microwave relay station on top of the local mountain. The exchange rate was 4 DM to the dollar then and so our meager army pay went a long way. I shared a local house with four other "Spec 4s". Considering how badly the Vietnam War was going, we were very fortunate to have such easy duty. I have very fond memories of my stay in West Germany.
