Hi Maria,

I've now been to Bristol and walked past the bottom of the rocks underneath the terraces on the picture. It turns out this cliffside does have a significant history -- inside it is the Clifton Rocks Railway, an underground funicular railway that operated between 1894-1934 and was later used by the BBC as a war time transmission base.

Today it is being restored as a visitor attraction by a conservation society, see [http://www.cliftonrocksrailway.org.uk/].
