The lighthouse is not open to the public but nearby is a mirador with tremendous views of the black and grey jagged rocks emerging from the bright blue sea below.
Córdoba was once the most important city in Europe. It was the centre of the medieval Caliphate of Córdoba and capital of the western Islamic Empire. It reached its peak in the 10th century when it rivalled Baghdad and Constantinople as one of the great cities of the World. Its greatest surviving monument to the city's magnificent past is its Grand Mosque – the Mezquita.
The Costa Tropical is the coastal region of the province of Granada sandwiched between the Costa del Sol to the west and the Costa Almería in the east. It is called the Costa Tropical because of the exotic fruits that grow there. Its unique microclimate has enabled the cultivation of chirimoya, mango, kiwi, avocado and sugar cane.
The Parque de María Luisa is one of the most beautiful public parks in Spain. Infanta Luisa Fernanda, Duchess of Montpensier, donated the gardens to the city of Seville in 1893. In 1911, Jean-Claude Nicolas Forestier, a French landscape gardener, rearranged the park into its present form by creating a garden of trees, hedges and fountains. photo: Sevilla - Parque de María Luisa - "Monument dedicated to Bécquer" © Robert Bovington
If there were but one reason to visit the city of Murcia, it would have to be to see the cathedral - La Catedral de Santa María is the most impressive monument in the city. You can't really miss it! Its 92 metre tower can be seen from miles around. The Cathedral was built on the foundations of an old mosque and the first stone laid in 1394 but the building, as it appears today, was not completed until the 18th century.

In the sixteenth century, very few cities could boast of having a university - the University of Osuna welcomed the disciplines of theology, law, music and medicine. It was open until 1842. The university building stands behind the colegetia de Santa María de la Asúnción.
The Colegetia de Santa María de la Asunción is the main temple in Osuna, a town that hosts quite a number of religious buildings. The sacred art museum hosts some of the most important Baroque paintings in the province of Seville. These include the collection of José de Ribera, known as 'El Españoleto'.

The interior of the mosque is spectacular – a forest of pillars and arches. 856 of the granite, jasper and marble columns remain – some were removed to make way for the Christian parts of the building. Horseshoe-shaped arches consisting of alternating red brick and white stone were placed above the lower pillars, which has given the Mezquita its distinctive character.
