WOW! Almost like I remember it. I used to swim at that beach, and fish off the breakwater when I lived at Cruickness. I remember the toilets you talk about, and the leper colony. Fortunately, our house had its own toilet. We used to take a shortcut over the 'golfie' and go past the ruins of the leper colony.
Also remember the gov't pier. Mum said we should never go there because it wasn't safe, and could fall at any time. That was 50 years ago! Thanks for the memories.
