BubbaPoppyseed's conversations

What a great bunch of photos about Drawbridge. I went out there in the early seventies with my dad. I do not remember anyone being there at the time. We just went exploring. As a kid I thought it was very cool. I looked as if people had just left in the last ten years when I was there. I do not remember the band saw being there, but I sure with I could get it now. It would be so easy to get set back up. Those old cast steel units would live for centuries even out side. Thanks for the great photos!

I loved the gliders... Flew as a passenger couple times in the 1970's until the bad crash, then my Dad said "No More" One of those planes ended up by my house in the Old Ohlone campus.

Beautiful! If the island has freshwater suitable for drinking then it seems to be a perfect place to live. Thank you for sharing this view!

Wonderful! Greetigs Rosalie

This photo was taken in the mid 1970's. At that tie I was aa glider tow pilot for Skysailing Airport in Fremont. I hiked up to Mission Peak to watch the activity from the ground. This photo is of a tow plane that just separated from a glider in front of the ridge.

We were on vacation in Tonga sailing in a Moorings charter boat when we encountered this Tongan fishing from a dugout canoe. The main body of the boat is hollowed out from a log that is not even wide enough for him to sit in. The outrigger is a smaller log. Hew was fishing about a mile off shore when we sailed by.
