dorf's conversations

We used to camp here in the early '70's. So many memories from this area. Thanks for the picture.

Crap. Forgot to ask which side of the stream is best. Which side of the stream is best? Thanks.

Dorf, I am planning a hike for that area. Can you email me at clarinath@gmail.com? Is there a trail that goes through the valley from Jasper all the way down to Granite? If there is, great, if not, is the valley passable for a hiker? Thanks

Discovering this little hill coming from the other direction was a little disappointing near the end of a long day. Thanks for the reminder, haha. Dorf

Great photo, thanks for sharing. Reminds me of my summers prospecting in the Yukon wilderness, where a chopper would drop 2 of us in a spot just like this. We had 4 days to map the rock. Being lazy, and before the chopper left, we had him drop us on a ridge, then collected rock samples, and using our boots only, would 'ski' down the snow slopes back to our camp spot. Ah, those were the days!

That day on the Plateau was our favorite, too---until the kidney stone appeared at the end of the day, ha ha.

My first inclination for this summer was to go in at Double Cabin over to Kirwin, along the greybull and over Burwell Pass. Still might do that, don't know.

I'm up the road about 1.75 hours from you in Manitowoc. If you're a road warrior you could make it to Buffalo, WY in a long day if you left at 5 AM. It's about 4.25 hours from Buffalo to Dubois. Shoot me an e-mail sometime: dorf(at)lsol(dot)net

I have a photo taken right at the base there: http://www.panoramio.com/photo/58571720

It was steep, no question. You could work your way around the worst of it but it was close to a class III scramble if it wasn't all the way there. It was about one, to two hundred vertical feet, so it wasn't very extended. I'd say if he could use his hands and wasn't in a terrible rush it wouldn't be too bad.

LIKE! Welcome to the group 45th parallel north... Add another photos only "from 44:59:00 to 45:00:59 N" coordinates. Thank you & Happy New Year from Italy.

That looks like a wonderful area to explore.

Randy :)

I certainly have enjoyed my visits to the HRB though it's been a while. Pretty sure I'll be coming back in the summer of 2012, but no "Yummy" this time. Dan...Greg...the countdown is on!
