I work in Hanover, Maryland, USA. The area is named after Hanover Germany by German immigrants that came to America in the late 18th century.
There are still several older residents of German heritage living in the area. I go to a Burger King restaurant for lunch and the waitress speaks with a German accent ("Vat would you like...D-live rund to second vindow").
Unfortunately, the community of Hanover, Maryland has been overtaken by three factors: The nearby airport has expanded and many parking lots have replaced old houses, The National Security Agency has expanded and many new offices have been built on old farmland, and the Maryland Food Co-op has expanded to build warehouses on former private land. It seems sad to me to see what was once evidently a close-knit community being overcome, but that's progress for you.

I love this picture for some reason---it's a still from a video I made walking through the alley. I always used to walk through this alley on my way from the bus stop at Westlake Center to Indian Park on Pike Street.
Lots of homeless people live in this alley, making rooms on the loading docks and blocking out the rain and wind with cardboard.

It is easy to understand that Google would make an oversight and not have an acceptable procedure for relocating incorrectly placed photos. It is also easy to see how Google could create a system that makes it too likely for users to accidentally locate their pictures here at The Center, as obviously happened here.
The problem is that here it is more than three months later, and there is still no resolution in sight.
TBurns2010 is right---they just don't care.

It is one of my favorite movies. You simply must see it (the original 1955 version, not the terrible recent remake with Tom Hanks). The movie itself is hysterical, with Alec Guinness playing a criminal mastermind whose ingenious robbery plan is completely foiled by the sweet and innocent old lady, whose house his gang intends as a hideout (Peter Sellers makes his debut in this movie). But aside from the plot, I also enjoy the movie for the untypical London scenes of sooty train switching yards and dingy streets clogged with traffic.

This is the Mary Surratt House in Surrattsville, MD. Early in the morning of April 15, 1865, John Wilkes Booth and David Herold stopped here after Booth shot Abraham Lincoln. Mary Surratt's son was a friend of Booth and was in on the conspiracy to assassinate the President. Mary Surratt herself was ultimately hung for for being a co-conspirator in the assassination plot, although there is some controversy over whether she was actually involved.
