From Brian out in Bosnia......top picture Roger..thanks I have one on here but its from the 'predictable' side of the downs and a little sterile...this one of yours must have been what the sailors saw 150 years ago when they returned back up the Avon for a well earned shorebreak...it evokes that 'I've arrived' feeling!
I lived in Burscough until the age of 13. My sister and I in summer used to walk the short distance along the Leeds-Liverpool canal to these locks, which we called "Top Locks" and would sit and watch the canal barges. Great photo - brought back great memories, thank you

It was Freezing!
Although it was May the windchill meant I could only take a couple of photos before I had to put my gloves back on as my hands had stopped working!

No camera trickery involved at all... the old chap was amazingly patient and stood statue-still while I took this photo!
