Sweating Bathhouse “Black Smoke Bania”
There is one very special place in “Lacites”. There you are invited to follow a ritual that has remained unchanged for many centuries. The “black smoke bania” is one of the most ancient kinds of sweating houses (also called the steam bath). In order to get the stones of the bath stove really hot they should be heated for at least 6 hours. When the required temperature is achieved the smoke from the fire burning inside the bath stove is expelled through the small window since the stove has no chimney. No wonder it does not take long before all the walls and the ceiling would be covered in soot, resulting in this kind of bath house hence the name “black smoke bath”. Heat in the bathhouse is maintained with the help of the heated stones, on which water is poured to create steam, which is the most important characteristic of a sweating bath. Since long ago such bathhouses were widely spread in Latgale, the Eastern part of Latvia, and were called the Latgalian black smoke bania. However, only a few of them survived until modern days and continue to be used in the country farmsteads. The “black bania” will meet you with a delicious smoky smell mixed with the sweet aroma of the birch twig brooms used to lash the body, and big towels to wrap yourselves afterwards. You may follow the sweating session with a refreshing dive in the pond or the Gauja River, which runs by the bath-house or relax in the hot tub. You will feel like a new-born baby, with both your body and spirit purified.

Beach volleyball ground, mini-soccer field, an asphalt-covered ground for street-ball, a network of asphalt tracks for roller-skating and bicycle rides, a pond for water sports including water-cycle races.
You can rent all sorts of sports equipment: balls for soccer, volleyball or basketball, badminton kits, bicycles, water-cycles, boats, roller-skates, safety caps and safety vests, as well everything necessary for skiing and skating in winter season.
Small Bungalows
These houses are built of logs by using local traditional methods. Seams between the logs are filled with moss, and the thatched roof is made of water reed. All-natural materials create a special atmosphere allowing you to breathe more freely and making your sleep deep and sound. Use of traditional elements of interior design combined with a modern look creates a special atmosphere of freshness and comfort. Every bungalow is for two persons. However, extra beds are available by request.
The Pavilion
It is a 280 m² large tent-like pavilion with a terrace, dance-floor, tables and chairs. The adjacent territory can be used for all sorts of activities. This is an excellent place for wedding banquets and other festive events accompanied by singing and dancing. The place can also be used for seminars and training courses. We shall provide you with everything necessary both for festive or business events starting with refreshments and ending with assistance in composing the programme of the event, ensuring the host, the music and lights, etc.
Indoor heated swimming pool, as well as a Turkish bath and a sauna and an open air Jacuzzi, a terrace overlooking the pond, a small bar is located in Hotels conference center "Riverhouse". It is a modern multi-functional building however perfectly fitting into the surrounding nature – its roof is turned into a green lawn. This place is perfect both for business events and entertainment. It have rooms for seminars and conferences (100 m² and 80 m²), a banquet hall, a kitchenette, WiFi and 5 aditional guest rooms. An ideal place to organise seminars, conferences and other events.
The territory of the hotel is 12 hectares large and offers excellent opportunities for all sorts of sports activities, outdoor games and entertainment, or, if you prefer, for unhurried and idle time spending. There is plenty to do in “Lacites” in the summer - you can swim, sunbathe, roller-skat and cycle, go fishing, swing in the playgraund, organise funny relay races or play various outdoor games. We will provide our support in organising sports games for large numbers of participants (up to 2000 participants) as well as smaller celebrations, seminars and other events.

An excellent place to enjoy a tasty meal together with your family or friends. You will be greeted by amiable staff and offered a menu, which includes traditional seasonal food of both local and European fare as well as surprisingly exotic cuisine. We have also a special offer for kids and teens - the “WonderLunch” and non-alcoholic cocktails with fancy decorations. And that's not all! Right beside the café there is a large playground, where our young guests can frolic about.
WiFi, modern interior design, attentive service, mouth-watering menu, tempting cocktails both non alcoholic and those containing deliciously intoxicating liquids, and yes, the atmosphere: you've got it all here and that's worth trying!
The restaurant is open from 9 till 24 in summer, from 11 till 20 in winter (or till the last guest in any season). Our guests who spend a night in “Lacites” can be served their breakfast earlier upon request. In the restaurant, there is room for about 60 persons; the open terrace can accommodate 40 more visitors in summer time or when the weather feels nice. For those who are passing by on a weekend and feel like having just a quick snack, our roadside café is the best solution. The café also provides brisk catering for larger events.
