David Peterson's conversations

Very nice view; Like; Greetings

Sad to hear it's no longer there. It's very much like a house that was in my family, very nearby, too, but the arches over the windows are different I think. The last time I was there was in 1967 and the house was whole and had a roof. I'm betting, like this one, it's long gone.

excellent photo. LIKE - Greeting from Los Angeles, Hal

Those who built this believed in it. Now - empty, abandoned. It would surely break their hearts.

lovely and nice photo.thank you.

This photo looks south across the Missouri River to the Nebraska hills just upstream from Niobrara, Nebraska. This land was homesteaded by my great grandfather Jacob Mathias Peterson after he emigrated from Norway in 1880.

The "Smoke Signals" sculpture in Lincoln's Pioneer Park was completed in 1935. It was financed by a federal government program for public art during the Great Depression.

I can't answer that, as I have only observed the building in passing. However, some time after I took this photo I read that several of the church's stained glass windows were stolen.

My guess would be that the church congregation merged with some nearby town church. That is the usual pattern when rural churches close here in Nebraska.

By the way, when I took this photo I was standing in the church cemetery across the road from the church. You can see the cemetery fence in the foreground.
