Beautiful picture. This portion of the road was magical, one of the most scenic stretches of highway I have ever traveled.
This is such a sad little reminder that by feeding the wild animals we are condemning them to death as they stop their natural foraging or hunting and simply wait for humans to supply their food. In some cases they become vicious and may attack if the food is not readily given.
This is something that visitors to SA do not always understand, and that is even more sad.
I want to clarify what nwckeweenaw has stated regarding trespassing. First of all as a rockhound I very much understand and respect private property rights. This is very important. And removing or relocating the photo for mislabeling etc. makes sense. That being said it is not apparant that this is a trespasser. Please understand Michigan law regarding our lakeshores. In 2004 Michigan's supreme court ruled that private property owners owned dry land up to the waters edge. This led the DEQ to offer an assertion that dry land is at the high water mark. Now of course the private land owners state it is the low water mark to prevent people from walking on/across their property lines. This is still in dispute. Personally I hope the courts rule that it's the high water mark as all Michiganders should have a right to access our wonderful beaches. That being said this picture is clearly below the high water mark and so according to the DEQ it is technically public property at this point based on the 2004 supreme court ruling.
Very cool! Reminds me a bit of Utah.

I would like to include your beautiful photo, "Flag at Kennaday Peak Fire Lookout, Medicine Bow National Forest" in a Forest Service publication. The photo will be reproduced in an informative 20-pg. magazine about Fire Lookout Towers. This is a not-for-profit publication.
Please let me know if I can provide you with any other information,
I just watched a nature guide video on the state parks in the UP. I didn't know how many parks there are.
