The chestnut woods in this area are all highly managed for beams, poles and the chestnuts themselves, an autumn delicacy. A ruined church on the Marzano walk, day 4 of our guided walking holiday. Apparently, the village had a community of monks who bred cattle, but by the 1950's everyone had left.
