In honoured memory of F/O JJR (Ray) Bédard
Royal Canadian Air Force Aged 25
Killed here 23rd June 1953
F/O Bédard of 439 Squadron RCAF was flying from RAF North Luffenham in a Canadair Sabre MK II. He broke from formation and he was sadly killed after bailing out while his aircraft was in a steep dive. The aircraft crashed in a field alongside this building.
"If ones heart lies lonely
for the maples golden shade
And if one listens mutely
For a song that is not played
Breathe gently on him England
A son of Canada, he stayed"
RIP
This plaque was unveiled by the Lincolnshire Aircraft Recovery Group on the 50th Anniversary in presence of his family.
