EasySt's conversations

Way back in June, 2001, before the saucer was hoisted by the truck, as it is seen in all the other photos here.

After having our fill of Alien Burgers at the Little A'LE'INN, we made the obligatory stop at the famous white mailbox back entrance road of Area 51. (I had learned back at the inn that the mailbox actually belongs to a farmer who has stories to tell about all he has gone through to get a mailbox in place that is able to withstand the attention.)

As we continued down past the next couple bends in the ET Highway, and got into the part where it runs straight out across the valley, we had the rare treat of being "buzzed" from behind by what appeared to be a slightly subsonic F-18 ripping along the highway at 60-90 feet, who kicked in his afterburners and pulled up just as he passed directly over our heads.

I got a great view straight up his flaiming turbines, along with an edifiying blast of bone shaking sound. I thought it was simply awesome. My friend, not so much. He had to pull over and make sure his pants didn't need changing or something. In his defense, I had been lucky enough to get a glimpse of the jet coming up behind us in my rear view mirror, an instant before it got to us. My friend had no such warning.

To our pilots, and all their fellow service members, thank you for your service! (and please continue to consider big yellow Goldwings valid targets for practice attack runs... ;-)
