This bunker was built by French (not US Army) way before WW II to prevent Japanese invation (Note: Japanese kicked French army out during WW II and controlled Vietname from 1939 to 1945).
During the Vietname war, neither US Army nor ARVN (Army of Rep of Vietnam) set up any observation post in this old bunker because Vung Tau was very safe (Note: Even in Tet offense 1968, there was no fighting in Vung Tau).
The bunker was abandon (no use) after WW II. When I was growing up in the 60's, I walked weekly here from my parents' home in Front Beach to fish (very quiet and peaceful place to fish). I knew Mui Nghinh Phong very well.

Wonderful image of "The house of the sun"! ---------------Dear Pano-friend, as we don´t know if google will keep Panoramio alive, I found myself a second home for my photos: Ipernity. A lot of pano-friends did it also and we got a good community there. Ipernity is a platform quite similar to Panoramio even if the direct communikation is a little bit more difficult. But Ipernity got other worthful functions, for example the possibility to create albums. If you are also looking for another platform join us!! --- Cordial greetings, Cornelia
